Installation and Setup of Netscape Navigator for Windows 95


PART ONE-Installing Netscape Navigator

  Insert the disk labeled DISK 1 into the drive.

Click on the Start button.

Then click Run.

Type A:setup then hit [ENTER]

Wait while Netscape copies files onto your hard disk.

When prompted, click on

Choose Typical and click on

Click on

Wait while Netscape copies files onto your hard disk.

Remove DISK 1 from the drive.

Insert disk labeled DISK 2 into the drive.

Click on

Remove DISK 2 from the drive.

Insert disk labeled DISK 3 into the drive.

Click on

Remove DISK 3 from the drive.

Insert disk labeled DISK 4 into the drive.

Click on

Remove DISK 4 from the drive.

Insert disk labeled DISK 5 into the drive.

Click on

Click on

Remove DISK 5 from the drive and wait for the computer to reboot.


PART TWO-Account Setup

  Wait for your computer to restart.

Double-click on

Click on

Type in your first and last name, then hit [TAB], and then type your organization's name. (You many leave this part blank if you wish.)

NOTE: The following information must be typed in **all lowercase**.

Type in ___________________________________________ this is your login name

Hit [TAB], then type in __________________________ this is your password

Click on

Type in ___________________________ this is your e-mail login

Hit [TAB], then type in __________________________ this is your password for e-mail

This will be your full e-mail address _____________________________________

Click on

Click on

  Note: The software should automatically find your modem.
If it fails to do so, click on

Select Hayes Compatible, then click on the speed of your modem.

Click on

Click on

Click on

Enter your area code, hit [TAB], then enter your phone number with or without a -.

Click on

Use this screen to disable call waiting or to add a number for an outside line, if necessary.
NOTE: If you are disabling call waiting, you must first contact the phone company to set up the disable code. Otherwise, you will get a busy signal every time you dial.

You are now ready to go! Just double click on the Netscape icon to get onto the Internet.
